There may not be any openly transgender athletes competing in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Brazil, but the games are already making history for their inclusion of transgender people.

In the opening ceremonies, transgender Brazilian supermodel Leandra Medeiros Cerezo, better known as Lea T, led Team Brazil. According to the Huffington Post, it’s the first time and openly transgender woman has had a role in an Olympic ceremony.

And, while we’re at it, lets not forget the less fashionable trans women who continue to be slaughtered on the streets in Brazil.
