From Queer Channel Media:
A Virginia lawmaker has introduced a bill that critics contend would make it all but impossible for transgender people to change the gender on their birth certificates.
State Del. Dave LaRock (R-Loudoun County) on Thursday introduced House Bill 431 that states “the designation of sex on a certificate of birth shall only be changed pursuant to an order of a court of competent jurisdiction indicating that the initial designation of sex was incorrect due to a typographical error.”
Virginia’s legislature approved a transsexual birth certificate statute – the one that this christianist who is now constitutionally prevented from getting his hate on against gay marriage but has no such constraints against using trans people’s lives as a proxy wants to erase – in 1979, when the state’s sodomy law was being actively enforced, no state had come even remotely close to passing a gay rights law, and Gay, Inc. was expunging us from our own movement because we were ‘the problem.’
Now that the Marriage Derangement Syndrome-ists have gotten what they want, we’re left holding the bag – while Gay, Inc. continues to cash in.
I’m growing tired of saying ‘I told you so,’ but ‘I told you so’
Of course, I’m sure that Chad Griffin is already cutting himself a bonus check to go ‘on record‘ against yadda, yadda, yadda….
