“Gee I wonder if Glenn Beck and the Blaze will start a gofundme page for this man who just spent 30 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit”

That’s one of the best comments I’ve seen recently – and it was on this item, currently up at Crooks and Liars:

I cannot imagine what it will be like for Anthony Ray Hinton to rebuild his life after spending nearly half of it on death row for a crime should never have been convicted of.

The backstory on this is that he was a victim of his poverty. He didn’t have the money for a lawyer or experts, and the public defender he had paid hired a shyster “expert” who was so easily impeachable on the stand it was a joke. 29-year old HInton went to jail for a crime he did not commit, and spent 30 years facing the possibility of execution for that crime.

Better yet…

I wonder if the Pizza Hate people will volunteer to funnel any of that $800,000+ to someone who will probably never be in a position to do or not do anything (and certainly hasn’t been so for the last three decades) based on what he says his ‘religious beliefs’ might be.

Actually, I don’t wonder – because I know it won’t happen.
