The $102 Million Question

It takes a lot – and I do mean a lot – for me to recommend anything over at Queerty.

This, however, is the exception that proves the rule.

Students Embarrass Rick Perry With Explicit Questions About Gay Sex During College Visit

One of the questions involved the sum of $102 million.

I’ll just leave it at that.

Not surprisingly, the college Republicans – at Dartmouth, the college in question – expressed unbelievable (by anyone in the real world) umbrage over the questions.

Of course, the questions – phrased as they may have been for maximum shock value – were directly relevant to Perry’s support of the criminalization of sexual activity between consenting adults of the same sex…

which brings us back to why Democrats invariably lose.

“I think it’s really disappointing that anyone would undermine a serious political event with sexually explicit questions,” Spencer Blair, the president of the College Democrats said. “Neither I nor anyone from College Democrats would ever condone such behavior.”

Perhaps you should, Spence.

There weren’t any equivalents of pictures of aborted fetuses.

There wasn’t even any glitterbombing.

There were just questions – tacky to be sure – to force a professional christianist to publicly confront the real world operation of laws he supports which do precisely what Republicans claim that they oppose: namely, criminalize individual freedom.

Sounds to me like Spencer Blair is the next Andrew Cuomo.

Memo to Spence: That’s not a compliment.
